Boosting skills & employment

Preston FM has always worked to give a hand to people who aren’t currently working, or who could do with a boost to their skills. Volunteering in community radio has a whole host of benefits – from improved confidence, communication and team-working and work-based skills like ICT and specific radio and media expertise; through to providing a regular routine, a reference and support with looking for a job or college course.

We’re currently working with Lancashire County Council to provide radio-based training and volunteering opportunities specifically designed for people who aren’t working, or who’d like to gain new skills to improve their work prospects. Our courses prepare volunteers for presenting regular programmes on Preston FM, as well as helping with CVs; providing advice on college courses; helping with job searches and applications; and providing advice on the best ways to get into the radio and music industries.

Our courses run regularly so, if you’re interested in enrolling, let us know by visiting our Get Involved pages.
