Preston Black History Group
Your Arts have been working to support the African Caribbean communities in Preston toward more accessible and inclusive Black History Month Celebrations.
Various projects, an Awards for All Big Lottery and other small funding pots, have contributed to the Black History Month Coordinating Group becoming constituted and we hosted the launch of Preston Black History Group at the Arts & Media Centre on 25th August 2011.
The Acorn Grant Fund helped us to make some eye-catching roller banners, the Help Direct BAME promotional fund supported the website and a booklet for this year’s Black History Month. Your Arts’ Preston Dreams project provided the business cards, general support and the venue so that we could launch the new phase of Black History activities for Preston.
The group’s new logo and strapline say it all: “Researching, Preserving and Celebrating Black History and Culture, a shared history for all”.
The programme for Preston’s Black History Month 2011 is now available – take a look at it here.
