Your Preston FM’s music policy is to represent the variety of presenters, listeners and public of Preston and the surrounding area in our music. We have a range of genre based playlists that are used on random pick for our Chat City morning programme, Non-Stop Music Lunch and our overnights.
All our presenters have personal control over what they play and many have genre specific interests, along with access to all of our playlists.
What will we broadcast?
- Anything that has been professionally recorded (or recorded in a good quality) and well mixed – we want to be able to hear all the elements of your track clearly, if you are mixing it yourself.
- A good quality 320Mbps 44.1kHz mp3 file (with no private or original bits set)
- Anything that has been registered with PPL, PRS, MCPS rights societies
- Anything that you can get permission from everyone involved to broadcast if the track is not registered with any of the societies
What we won’t broadcast?
- Anything that is produced poorly, where we can’t hear the lyrics if there are any, if there is hiss or background noise that doesn’t sound quite right
- Anything that could be seen to incite hatred or cause offence to someone
- Content focusing on things such as gun crime and gangs in a negative way
- Any swearing of any sort – as we are a community station we have a blanket ban on swearing of any form
- Anything that would cause us to breach the Ofcom broadcast code

Our preferred method of receiving tracks is either an email to liz@prescap.co.uk with a direct link to download the file from a site such as AirPlay Direct or YouSendIt

If you are a local artist, please state where you are from when you contact us.
We do get a lot of contact from unsigned artists, so please be patient as it may take a while to get to you email. We look for tracks and artists that are special and something different, so please send us three of your best tracks rather than albums as we can only put a few of each artist on our playlists to keep it even and fair.
