Speak Up Preston
Preston FM is working with the Bespoke Project at UCLAN, CSV’s VolTV operation in Preston and hyper-local news site Blog Preston to recruit, train and work with citizen journalists in Deepdale, Ribbleton and St Matthews.
We’re working with a new wave of community journlists, who are contributing to Preston FM’s programmes, as well as discovering what makes their neighbourhood tick, and helping to solve any problems that they uncover.
The project is well underway, but there are still lots of things that you can get involved with:
- Take part in the East Preston Challenge – contribute your ideas to make East Preston a place to be proud of, and you could win cash prizes and practical support to make your idea happen.
- Sign up to our next round of community journalism training: take a look at the course dates and times below and drop us a line (speakup@preston.fm / 01772 880791) to book a place:
- Monday & Tuesday evenings, 5-7pm, starting Mon 3rd Oct: West View Leisure Centre
- Monday & Thursday mornings, 10:30am-12:30pm, starting Mon 24th Oct: Quaker Meeting House, St George’s Road, Deepdale
- Thursday & Friday afternoons, 2-4pm, starting Thu 3rd Nov: St Mary Magdalen’s Parish Hall, Farringdon Lane, Ribbleton
- Read, watch and listen to the stories produced by the Speak Up Preston community journalists on the project website.
If you want to get involved in some other way, then drop us an e-mail to speakup@preston.fm – we’re eager to hear all your ideas.
The project is part of NESTA’s Neighbourhood Challenge. You can keep an eye on what’s going on behind the scenes by visiting the project blog, where you’ll also find links to other neighbourhood projects across the country.
