Launch Event World Community Arts Day
World Community Arts Day on 17th February 2011 sees the opening of the new home for yOur Prescap, The Arts & Media Centre in Preston. The opening event will mark a significant milestone in the 25 year history of yOur Prescap.
Launched in 1985 yOur Prescap uses arts and media to lead individuals and communities to design creative solutions towards a healthier, economically balanced and fairer society. The projects delivered by yOur Arts, yOur Creative Connections and yOur Preston FM, help people realise their own potential, which is proven to bring harmony in diverse cultural communities.
Your Prescap is celebrating 25 years of heritage in Lancashire and is delighted to launch the Arts & Media Centre with a retrospective of works on World Community Arts Day. The Arts & Media Centre will provide a public community gallery to showcase work from local groups and allow the wider community to celebrate local art as well as being the home of your Preston FM.
The refurbished Arts & Media Centre means that YourPrestonFM has purpose built state of the art radio studios, which create greater opportunities for volunteers, many who have had little access to arts and media before. The benefits they get from being involved in community radio are powerful and have led to other opportunities for many of our volunteers.
