Arts Council funding decision

yOur Prescap has received notification from the Arts Council that we will not be included in the list of National Portfolio Organisations.

Having previously received around £75k of funding each year to deliver visual and performance arts projects with communities in Lancashire and beyond, we will not receive Arts Council funding from April 2012

Ben Hunt, Chief Executive of yOur Prescap, said:

“While it is too early to fully react to this morning’s statement, we are obviously disappointed to have been unsuccessful in our application to the Arts Council. yOur Prescap is a key feature of the cultural landscape in Lancashire and it will clearly be more difficult for us to deliver our work without the support we have previously received from Arts Council England.

“However, we are a resilient organisation. We have been working for some time to diversify our revenue streams and adapt our operations to build a more robust and sustainable business model. For example, our social enterprise arm; yOur Creative Connections which will serve to help fill the gaps in our funding and allow us to continue the amazing work we do with communities across Lancashire.”

yOur Prescap, which has recently opened a new Arts and Media Centre in Fox Street, has been actively involved in creating art and arts projects with Lancashire communities for over 25 years. The organisation, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, uses art in a dynamic way to support individual development, regeneration, social cohesion and community development.
